Do you have the perfect idea for a TV show, movie, or webseries?
We've all had an idea or two that we think is original, unique, and never been done. The problem with that is most ideas have been done in some form or another. I don't want to discourage you... We've all had those moments or day dreams about Idris Alba or Kerry Washington as your lead actor? Don't trip I have too. Here's a question, how many of you actually do something about it? How many of you actually write those ideas...
Well here are a few pointers on how to achieve your potential blockbuster film or network success...
1. Outline your idea, and list all of your ideas in the way you see it playing out on screen.
2. Know that your idea most likely has been done before. Now, do the work and see what stories are similar to yours. See what worked for them and what didn't. This way you can capitalize on those positives and avoid the same potential disasters.
3. Humanize your characters, make them relate-able to your intended audience. Speak directly to them through your characters feelings and justify those feels with your characters reactions and behaviors.
4. Research, research, research... This doesn't need much elaboration does it? The more you do this the greater the chance your project will be successful. The deeper your characters will be and the more flushed out your story will be.
5. Watch a lot of films and TV... This technically could have been in the previous tip but, I felt like it should stand alone. The perfect way to do so is to "BINGE" watch... That way you're able to follow closely stay connected and invested through out. There is nothing wrong with watching from week to week however; those commercials can be annoying...
